IA better way

Good wine shouldn't be a guess.

Most of us buy wine the same way. Grab something familiar off the shelf, pay full retail, and hope. You never meet the winemaker, you never know the season, and the genuinely interesting bottles — the small parcels, the single-vineyard releases — rarely make it to the bottle shop at all.

There's a better way to drink.

IIIOur story

Almost a century in one family's hands.

01

Since 1928

Vittorio De Bortoli left Castelcucco for New South Wales in 1924 with nothing. In 1928 he bought a 55-acre fruit farm, crushed 15 tonnes of shiraz grapes other growers had left to rot, and sold the wine to local families. Four generations later, the same family still makes every decision.

02

The wine that changed Australian dessert wine

In 1982, newly qualified winemaker Darren De Bortoli made the first Noble One. It won the trophy for Best Botrytis Wine at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 1985, then again in 1992 and 2004.

03

Six regions, one family

Riverina, Yarra Valley, King Valley, Hunter Valley, Rutherglen and Heathcote. Different soils, different seasons, the same hands guiding every parcel.

04

Sustainability that's certified, not claimed

A certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. The first business in NSW to achieve Sustainability Advantage Platinum, and winner of the International Sustainability Award at the Drinks Business Green Awards.

05

Recognised for how we work, not just what we make

Named Winery Innovator of the Year by the IWSC in London, and the only winery in the AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies top 10.

IVOur icon

Start with the one that made our name.

Noble One is made from semillon left on the vine until botrytis — noble rot — concentrates every drop of it. It is patient, unhurried winemaking, and it has been winning trophies since 1985. If you have never had a great Australian dessert wine, start here.

Every six bottles plants a tree.

It started in 2008, planting 17 trees for every vehicle in our fleet. Today 17 TREES is a brand with a job to do — one tree planted for every six bottles sold. More than 69,000 trees are in the ground, and counting.
